A Worshipping Community
Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me. Mark 9:37
At Trinity Presbyterian Church we live in response to Gods love, expressing our faith with creativity and integrity, in a spirit of hospitality and inclusiveness.
We aim:
·to spread the Word of God to our community, both immediate and global;
·to embody the teachings of Christ in our deeds; and
·to celebrate the diversity of Gods creation.
Everyone has different reasons for becoming a member of a church. We understand there are different needs, expectations, and unique gifts that we all bring to the congregation.
·Greeters We believe hospitality is one of the fundamental values of Christianity, since Jesus welcomes all people to come to him, particularly those whom the world does not value or embrace. TPC greeters are entirely focused on welcoming people to the church Sunday mornings.
Welcome to Trinity Presbyterian Churchs web home! Were delighted youve found our web site; we'd love to welcome you in person. We hope you will take the time to learn more about our faith community by browsing through the site. Below, we've collected answers to a few of the most common questions first-time visitors may have.
Of course, we invite you to contact the church office if you have a question or concern which you don't feel is addressed on the site. Please don't hesitate to call 918.369.3690 or send an email message to trinity_olp.net.
TPC is an unapologetically Christian church centered on a belief in Jesus Christ. Grounded in that belief, we encounter the world and all its complexities with integrity, authenticity, and a healthy dose of humor.
With that said, how we go about living that faith in the world varies greatly among members. We believe a diversity of thinking, grounded in Christ, is good for our community, good for the church, and good for the world. How we manage to live together amidst diverse views is one of the greatest witnesses to our faith in Christ to the world. This, of course, does not mean that all things go, nor does it mean we have a published list of do's and don'ts.
Rather, we believe that Christ is Lord of our conscience and the community of believersour community of accountability. With this in mind, TPC is a place where people are encouraged to question and grow in their faith, pushed to act and risk in the world, loved when forgiveness is needed and asked for, and celebrated in times of new life and new beginnings.
Presbyterianism is "reformed and always reforming."
Presbyterians are open to change and new ideas as our surprising, steadfast God puts them before us. In the Presbyterian church, each individual person is given great authority. Each one is asked to read and interpret Scripture under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This leads to a healthy diversity of opinion within our church.
However, we also have shared beliefs. We believe that:
·God is good and continually working for good in history.
·Jesus is the ultimate revelation of God's being and will.
·The church is a place where we come together to discern the will of God, grow spiritually, and work for justice and peace.
·All persons are invited to participate fully in ministry, regardless of age, disability, economic or social circumstance, gender, marital status, race or sexual orientation.
We are affiliated with the PCUSA , EOP , SYNOD of the SUN
Christians believe that God created us for life together and that the Christian life is most faithfully and joyfully lived in the community of faith that is the church. While it is surely possibly to live faithfully as a Christian in isolation, the community of faith sustains, nourishes and challenges us to greater and steadier faithfulness to Jesus Christ. To be a Christian is, for most of us, to be part of a community of Christians.
Faith is well understood as a journey. To join a church is not to say, I have arrived; I have it all figured out. Rather, to join a church is to say, I feel led to go on this faith journey, to follow Jesus Christ. I may not have it all figured out, but I am whole-heartedly committed to the journey.
You are invited to make this journey with Trinity Presbyterian Church. Join us for worship, study and learn with us, serve with us, and know that you are invited to join the congregation of Christians that is Trinity Presbyterian Church. If you wish to explore membership, you are cordially invited to call the pastor at 918.369.3690.
“How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses to help. Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” 1 John 3:17-18
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Trinity Presbyterian Church has always had a strong history of educating people of all ages in our faith. Trinity began as a New Church Development for south Tulsa. With its roots in Christian learning, Trinity continues an emphasis on education from the littlest among us to the most mature.

We are eager for all to learn that the church is a special place where they belong, are loved, have friends, and find important service to do.
Building a Learning Community
Trinity has always had a strong history of educating people of all ages in our faith and our building was designed to provide adequate space for all ages. The Session strongly believes that we also need to open the doors of our building to the community outside our congregation by providing meeting space for community activities and organizations.

Mission Statement
Trinity Presbyterian Church is called to proclaim, through the word and action,
the teachings of Jesus Christ within the reformed tradition.
We welcome people with a variety of backgrounds to join us on our faith journey.
Trinity embodies a spirit of care, love and encouragement for the church family, seeking to fulfill God’s purpose in our lives.
We glorify God through worship, prayer, affirmation of faith, stewardship, music, education, fellowship, and mission outreach.
Our vision is to be a neighborhood church, an inviting community of believers,
growing in God’s grace.
Vision Statement
Trinity Presbyterian Church is a welcoming community:
• Growing in God’s grace
• Making disciples of Jesus
• Meeting people’s needs
Adult Christian Education
"In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.” Matthew 7:12
Adult education offerings at Trinity Presbyterian Church are meant to help church members and friends on their spiritual journeys. We join in adult education to grow in faith in the God revealed in Jesus Christ, to understand the Bible and the Christian tradition, to apply our faith as we engage in conversation with the world, and to live fully and faithfully as individuals and with our neighbors.
Two or three Adult classes meet on Sunday mornings at 9:15. One class is currently engaged in a DVD study for progressive Christians. Another class is a Bible Study and a third class is a book discussion. Come grow and learn with us.
In order to become the family of Christ, it is not enough to worship together. We have to know the other members of the family and develop deep relationships. Churchill Hall provides the space for the many church dinners where we gather and break bread together and the Café area is a great place to have a conversation on Sunday mornings. Trinity Presbyterian Church strives to be a spiritual home to its members. We create numerous activities that allow members and friends to deepen their friendships, including:
·The coffee time after Sunday School and before worship usually fills the Café area to overflowing with members and visitors exchanging greetings
·On the third Sunday of each month, the 50 + or - group go to lunch at various restaurants
·We typically have at least one fellowship event each month
·Wednesday nights during Lent feature a prepared dinner followed by a Christian education event
·And more!
Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4
BUILDING AND GROUNDS
A church is not a building; it's a community of human beings who choose to follow Jesus Christ.
A church is also not simply the sum of its history; rather, it is a present and living reality, where the physical facilities in which the people gather for worship, study, mission, and fellowship do matter.
While Trinity's building is new, it still requires maintenance and in order for our congregation to fulfill its mission, it is important for us to be good stewards of our building and to follow the tradition of those faithful leaders who have gone before us. As they built the church we have received, so it is now our moment to build our ministry in response to new opportunities God has placed before us.
“Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4
FINANCE AND STEWARDSHIP
The writer of the Gospel of Luke:
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what
you will wear. For life is more than food and the body more than clothing...Consider the lilies,
how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not
clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today… how
much more will God clothe you! And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you
are to drink, and do not keep worrying. For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these
things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, strive for God’s kingdom, and
these things will be given to you as well. Do not be afraid...for it is your Father’s good pleasure
to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, give alms...For where your treasure is, there
your heart will be also. (Luke 12:22-34)
Luke also says this:
From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to
whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded. (Luke 12:48)
We call our stewardship program the “Manna Principle”.
Simply stated, it says that we trust that God will provide all we need and will use responsibly.
Instead of asking the congregation for a financial pledge, we simply ask you to make a commitment of your time, talent and treasure in whatever amount is pleasing to you and to God.
Jesus said, “But whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant … just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:26,28
Trinity Presbyterian Church is blessed to have members who generously give of themselves and share their talents to benefit the church and its mission. The officers of the church elders and trustees provide leadership, helping us set direction and grow spiritually. Learn more about these positions and meet our current officers.
Elders
Together with ministers of the Word and Sacrament, elders exercise leadership, government, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of the church.
·Elders serve on the session, which is the body that establishes and oversees the direction of the churchs ministry, programs, and budget. Elders are also asked to chair and serve on committees of session.
·Elders should be persons of faith, dedication, and good judgment. Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel, both within the church and in the world.
·It is the duty of the elders to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation.
·Together with the pastors, they should encourage the people in the worship and service of God, and equip and renew them for their tasks within the church and for their mission in the world.
·Elders occasionally preach and assist in worship.
Meet our current elders here.

A Brief History of Trinity
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling-place for God. Ephesians 2:19-22
Trinity'’s history is marked by a determined commitment to glorify God and serve the world. With God’s help, we have been able to develop a strong ministry that helps our members grow spiritually as we engage in large ministries to help people.
We moved into our current home in May, 2005. Since then, the congregation has grown steadily. 45% of our membership is currently under the age of 55. We have a growing children, youth, and adult program.
Trinity Presbyterian Church first began meeting at Holland Hall School in Tulsa in 1981. Our first church building was built on the east side of Memorial in Bixby. The building served the congregation well until a change in demographics and aging building systems made a new building necessary.
When Trinity was dedicated in 1981, the surrounding area was mostly rural, with a few neighborhoods. Soon the area around Trinity's first building was experiencing dramatic growth in retail businesses and as a result the congregation had an opportunity to sell the property and build a new facility. We confronted our old building's need for repair and after much prayer and planning, we decided to relocate to another part of Bixby. The sanctuary contains many elements moved from the Memorial Street building. The cross, communion table, and baptismal font were put into the new church. The pulpit in the chancel and the font in the narthex were given to Trinity from sister congregation, Second Presbyterian Church, Tulsa.
For 30 years, the people of Trinity Presbyterian Church have been gathering together to worship, growing together in faith, giving generously of themselves to share the grace of Jesus Christ with others, and engaging in Christian fellowship with each other. This is the history of Trinity Presbyterian Church a story that continues today, and a community of which you can be a part.
